WelcomeWelcome to Auckland Airport Hotels!
About Auckland AirportThe Auckland Airport has served as the main gateway to New Zealand since 1966. The site was once a dairy farm and home of the Auckland Aero Club. The runway is constructed on land that the city reclaimed from Manukau Harbor. The airport's domestic and international terminals handle over 13 million airline passengers each year. In 1977, the airport completed its international terminal and named it in honor of pioneering aviatrix Jean Batten. Recent upgrades enable the airport to service the new Airbus 380 with simultaneous double-deck boarding. Known locally as Mangere Airport, it is the largest and busiest in the country and is served by more than 25 commercial airlines. The two previously separate domestic terminals are connected and accessible through the airport's new retail space. Airport patrons have access to a wide variety of amenities, restaurants, services and duty-free shopping. The retail venues are the perfect place to find unique local artwork and handicrafts. Dining options include café style eateries, family favorites and healthy fresh meals. The facility has several covered and uncovered parking options. The ground transportation to and from the airport by bus, shuttle or taxi is very convenient. Visitors can tour New Zealand by renting a car, campervan or motor home. As you arrive and depart through the international terminal, you will see a wide selection of iconic and culturally significant images that embody the heritage of New Zealand. These displays are the result of a collaborative effort between the airport and the Museum of New Zealand. The cultural display in the center of the airport is designed to enhance and share the history of the native Maori people. |
